Replacing an Old Slicer: Safety and WEEE Management
Upgrading the equipment of your business, restaurant, butcher shop, or supermarket means improving efficiency, safety, and overall work quality. However, when replacing a professional slicer, it is essential to properly manage the disposal of the decommissioned machine.
Professional slicers fall under the category of professional WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), which must be handled through authorized recycling channels to ensure environmental safety and regulatory compliance.
Then let’s see:

What Professional WEEE Means
WEEE includes all equipment operating through electric current or electromagnetic fields. When such equipment comes from commercial activities such as restaurants, butcher shops, or large-scale retail distribution, it is classified as professional WEEE.
Proper management makes it possible to:
- prevent the dispersion of potentially harmful substances
- recover reusable materials
- ensure full traceability of waste throughout the entire recycling chain
For this reason, it is important to rely on official collection systems.
The Exceed Food Program
To properly manage the end-of-life treatment of its equipment, Manconi has joined the Erion Professional program through the Exceed Food system, dedicated to the collection and treatment of WEEE in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector. This model is based on the principle of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), according to which manufacturers placing products on the market also contribute to their management when they become waste.
The system guarantees:
- management in compliance with environmental regulations
- recovery of materials for new production cycles
- full traceability of the disposal process
How to Dispose of a Professional Slicer
Thanks to the Exceed Food program, obsolete equipment can be collected easily and at no additional cost for the end user.
Two collection methods are available:
One-to-One, The old slicer is collected simultaneously with the purchase of a new equivalent machine.
One-to-Zero, It is possible to request the collection of equipment purchased after December 31, 2010, even without purchasing a new product.
How to Request the Service
The collection service can be requested by both end users and distributors through a simple three-step procedure:
- Send a request to exceedfood@erionprofessional.it
- Complete the form by providing:
- number of machines
- estimated weight
- equipment description
- photograph of the machine
- Provide company details and the collection address.
To reduce the environmental impact of transportation, it is recommended to group multiple obsolete machines into a single collection request.
A Responsible Choice
Replacing a slicer with newer models such as the Kolossal, Kolossal Dual, or Smarty lines means improving operational efficiency and workplace safety, resulting in reduced product waste, higher slicing quality, and easier machine cleaning. At the same time, relying on an official collection system ensures that every component is managed in full compliance with environmental regulations and circular economy principles.
